The real estate association that represents FLORida realtor mortgage calculators, the Florida Realtor Association, has launched a legal fight to defend its name, claiming the word “realtor” was taken out of its name to avoid confusion with the real estate industry.
“The association claims it was falsely identified as a ‘realtor’ because the word ‘mortgage’ was used in its name,” reads a press release sent to media organizations by the Florida Association of Realtors.
“As we have stated many times before, the association’s mission is to promote the Florida real estate market and to educate the public about the properties, the properties’ characteristics, and the properties offers.”
Florida Realtor Association President and CEO Jim Bales, in a statement, called the Florida Realty Association’s legal action “completely baseless” and “not based on any facts, law, or fact-based analysis.”
“In no way is the association associated with the ‘real estate’ industry,” he added.
“Our members represent all types of homebuyers, all types, all of the time.
We’ve worked hard to help people find great homes.
That said, the name of the association is the FLORIANS REALTROOMS ASSOCIABLE.
We do not have a business affiliation with real estate brokers or dealers.”
Bales also accused the realtor association of falsely claiming that it was not involved in the mortgage industry, a claim that the association has refuted.
“We have no association with the mortgage market,” Bales said.
“Any suggestion that we have is pure fiction.
Our association is an independent agency, dedicated to educating the public, not providing legal advice or representation to individuals.”
The Florida Reclamations Association has long claimed that it is a professional association.
The association has not previously been challenged on its claims.
According to the association, it represents more than 700,000 Florida realtives and about 100,000 members.
The realtorship association also noted that it has had an “in-house” mortgage loan broker for nearly a decade.
