A lot of the homes you want to buy will be listed as ‘saleable’, which means you can buy them for a fraction of what they’re actually worth.
It’s a little tricky when you first start looking, but with the help of a handy Google-powered ‘real estate search engine’, we can figure out which properties are actually for sale, and which aren’t.
The trick is to make the right choice.
If you’re in the market for a property, read on to find out which of the following terms will work best for you.
We’ll also explain how to use real estate search engines to find the right properties.
The Basics If you want a property that’s already listed in a city, you’ll want to start with a local realtor, as they’re likely to be familiar with the area and can point you towards the best properties.
But if you’re new to the real estate market, it’s a good idea to go online and use a realtor search engine like RealtyTrac, as it can point your way towards some of the best deals on a property.
If your local realtors aren’t online, it might be worth taking a look at their local listings first.
For a property’s ‘official’ listing in the city, look for the property in the listings that use the word ‘sale’.
You’ll want the most up-to-date information, and don’t forget to check the listing is a ‘sale’ property.
You can also look for an ‘Official Listing’, where the listing isn’t an ‘official sale’.
For an ‘unofficial’ ‘sale’, look for a ‘resale’ property listing, where the property is listed as having been sold but is still listed as being on the market.
This will typically be the property that isn’t ‘sale-able’ and isn’t listed on a local listing service.
This is the ‘reserve’ property, as there are no ‘official sales’ in the area.

If a property is advertised as ‘for sale’, you’ll probably need to use a search engine to find it.
This may involve looking at the listing on Realty Trac, or searching through the property listing on a website like Realtor.com, as you’ll need to know which properties have been listed.
This can be a bit of a hassle, but you’ll be able to get by with it if you know what to look for.
